The boat has not been designed with a watermaker (in keeping with the KISS principle) & as such our water tanks are quite large 1750 litres With 1200 litres of diesel & the economical Gardner this gives us excellent range for costal cruising around Australia where quite long distances between ports in the remote areas are common. Our plumbing consists of a pressure freshwater system, filtered only for drinking. Deckwash consists of 1 forward & 1 aft with 2 separate pumps. (Anchor & cockpit). A holding tank with a capacity of 350 litres for toilet waste only. All other waste goes directly overboard. This system is convertible to handle all waste for future regulation changes in Australia. Our holding tank will be fed with forced air through 4 bronze diffusers for the elimination of odour. This is a well known principle of allowing the proliferation of aerobic bacteria as opposed to the smelly anaerobic bacteria. As current regulations in Australia allow for overboard discharge (with certain limitations) we have two options for emptying the waste tank. A marina discharge via a cam lock deck fill & a 'Jabsco' macerator pump overboard. |
