M/Y Journey — a 1972 Custom 39 located in Beaufort, North Carolina, for sale by broker. Responses to inquiries may come from a broker who is representing the owner as a fiduciary.

Journey is a great boat that will provide for many different activities. A fishing boat that can go offshore without any problems and fish commercially or recreationally, she would be a head-turner while enjoying trips around Beaufort, and she could even go around the Great Loop.

Journey is a custom-built vessel designed with the strengths of a commercial fishing vessel, yet it includes many of the items looked for by recreational fishermen and recreational boaters.

Her high bow lends itself to a comfortable ride with plenty of room to work, and her aft deck is a great spot to work from or have a crowd over for a sunset trip with plenty of room to stretch out.

Her interior space is well laid out with a roomy booth-style dinette, Pullman galley with plenty of counter space, and a full stove and oven for cooking most any meal.

The forward section has a generous V-berth, small head, and more storage to keep smaller equipment.

This boat is a must-see for anyone looking for an offshore fishing vessel with the ability to entertain and even make the Great Loop.

Jim Edwards

By Jim Edwards

Jim Edwards has spent his entire life around boats. He started sailing at a young age, racing the family boat with his father and sailing at Camp Sea Gull. He began his professional career with the YMCA as a Program Director in NC and went on to be Executive Director of a YMCA in Florida. Boating continued to be a big part of his life in both places.

In 2001, Jim and his family embarked on a three-year trip on their sailboat, Green Dolphin. After cruising the East Coast and the Bahamas, they settled in Oriental, North Carolina. Once there, he revived the business he had started in Florida, Bow to Stern Yacht Services. He expanded the scope of the business to include ASA Lessons, Captained and Bareboat Charters, Youth Programs, maintenance and repair services, and now, Yacht Brokerage services with Curtis Stokes and Associates.

Jim holds a USCG Masters License and many ASA Instructor Certifications. He has over 10,000 coastal cruising miles on sailboats and over 2,000 miles cruising on their 36' trawler. He currently owns and operates Bow to Stern Boating, a family-run charter business and boating school.

Jim is active in Oriental having served on the Parks and Recreation Committee; is currently Dragon Master for the New Year's Eve Dragon Run, and enjoys assisting in many other local events. He and his wife, Stephanie, have been in Oriental since 2004 and plan to retire there.
